Ad Policy
Last updated: 10 May 2026 — Version 1.5.0 In an Islamic app, the ads you see become part of your worship moment. That's why Vakit makes a manifesto-level commitment about what ads can be shown and which categories will never be allowed. This page is the full text of that commitment.
1. Our Intent
Vakit aims to be an app that respects its users and protects the sanctity of Islamic life. When we have to show ads — to keep the app sustainable — none of those ads should disrupt your worship moment or contradict your religious sensitivities. This manifesto is not a marketing promise; it is a permanent commitment. When the policy changes, the "Last updated" date on this page is refreshed and previous versions are archived.
2. Categories We Never Show
Ads in the following categories are technically blocked from ever being served: • Gambling, betting, casino, sports betting, poker • Alcohol and tobacco products • Adult, dating, sexual content, sex products • Nudity in any form • Interest-based loans, payday loans, interest-bearing investments • Fortune-telling, astrology, psychic readings, magic, tarot • Pork and pork products • Get-rich-quick schemes, MLM traps • Religious propaganda from other faiths This list is a living document. When a new category or a single bad ad is identified through user feedback, it is technically blocked within 7 days and added to the list.
3. Technical Safeguards
We apply double-layered controls on the ad network side (Google AdMob): • Maximum content rating: G (General audience). Adult content is well above this threshold; we are below even that. • In Brand Safety > Block Content, all categories above are actively flagged. • URL and keyword denylist: ads containing terms like "casino", "betting", "gambling", "flirt", "dating", "horoscope", "psychic", "tarot" cannot pass. • Ad personalization is in your hands via iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — if you decline, IDFA is not shared and a generic ad is shown. All filters are auditable: Google AdMob Brand Safety documentation and IAB Tech Tax Content Taxonomy.
4. Current State (May 2026)
Vakit currently shows no banner or interstitial ads at all. The only ad usage is the optional "Sadaka Mode": only if the user explicitly chooses to watch a short video ad from the "Vakit'i Yasat" screen. This option can be disabled and never used. In the future, a limited banner promotion for free users in the freemium tier is being considered. When that happens, all the filters and user-feedback flows above will be active and enforced.
5. Report an Ad
Did you spot an ad that conflicts with your religious sensitivities? Two ways: • In-app: Tap the ⚠️ icon next to the ad → choose a category (Gambling, Adult, Interest, Fortune-telling, Other) → optionally attach a screenshot. Auto-acknowledgement within 24 hours; review and filter update within 7 days. • Email: write to [email protected] with a screenshot. Every valid report is added to the AdMob Brand Safety filter. Quarterly aggregate results (anonymized) are published on this page.
6. Premium: Completely Ad-Free
For users who want an ad-free experience, a one-time premium purchase will be available later. Commitments around this purchase: • One-time payment. No monthly or yearly subscription trap. • All core worship features stay in the free tier — premium only buys "no ads". • No surprise paywalls. A feature that is free today will not be moved behind premium tomorrow; if it is, it is explicitly announced in the changelog. • Refunds are handled via Apple — one tap if you complain. Pricing will be announced at launch.
7. Transparency and Audit
• This policy page and the related App Store text are kept up to date with every release. • Once a quarter an anonymous report summary is published: how many reports we received, how many were valid, which categories were added. • AdMob screenshots (Brand Safety panel) are made available to independent auditors on request. • If the ad network changes (e.g., from AdMob to another SSP), the new filters covering the same categories are set up first, and then we switch.
